Original Festival Artwork

We’d like to thank artist Susan King for painting this year’s Festival painting “Mountain Symphony” featured on the cover of your program.

Susan King is a 32-year resident of the Murphys and Arnold area. A retired teacher, she realized this was her opportunity to focus on her exploration of the visual arts. The wonder of the natural world
, which surrounds the Sierra Foothills and beyond is her inspiration. Susan uses a variety of media and techniques to create unique emotional connections. Watercolor, acrylics, hand-made papers, and altered papers are essential components of her works.

Susan’s work is currently displayed at Art on Main in Murphys. She was Ironstone Vineyard’s annual theme division winner of the Obsession art show for two years. She was accepted into the Yosemite Renaissance show in Yosemite Valley and the traveling show afterward. Susan is well-known for her community outreach of the arts to the Vallecito Unified School District children and Mark Twain Unified School District. She also launched the art history program, “Art in Action“, for three schools within the Vallecito District.

Susan studied with local and national artists Martha Wallace, Cheng Kee Chee, and Jill Figler. For more information please visit: www.skingartist.weebly.com.

Thank you also to High Sierra Framing + Gallery in Arnold for donating the framing of Susan’s artwork. You can purchase a poster version at the merchandise tent and High Sierra Framing + Gallery will do a beautiful job framing it for you.
