Blurb #2- Get Your ABBA Groove On! Bear Valley Music Festival’s Fun-filled Season Begins July 29

Adbacadabra sounds like magic but it’s the ultimate ABBA concert!  Adbacadabra wows audiences with authentic music and dress– performing the group’s greatest hits in full ABBA fashion and flair. You won’t be able to sit still as songs like S.O.S., Super Trooper and Dancing Queen are re-created with such precision you’ll swear you were listening to the originals. Take a Chance on Me and Voulez Vous will lift you out of your seats to dance.

Adbacadabra performs on Sat July 30th, but the audience can get their ABBA groove on starting on 29th as they watch the hugely popular film “Mamma Mia” on the big screen- a free event.

Dust off the leisure suits and platform shoes, or create your own disco gear as we are transported back to a simpler time when gas was under $1.00 per gallon and interest rates hit 18%… when music was fun, inspiring and uplifting… and disco was King!  With the new resurgence of the ‘70s, the music of ABBA is finding its way back into the hearts of those who lived it then and taking over those who are experiencing it for the first time now.

You’ll want to include in your weekend plans, the free annual Star Party staged on the top turn in the road up to Bear Valley Resort after the concert and check out the casual daytime astronomy classes.

On Sunday, the 31st, do not miss the first ever music at the top of Bear Valley Resort’s mountain with lunch as you ride the chairlift to the top and stroll the ridge or just sit and soak in the music and beauty. Mountain top is limited to 100 people. Wildflowers should be spectacular this season.

See www.bearvalleymusicfestival.org for more info a full festival schedule and schedule updates, special kid’s ticket pricing. Ticket sales will be available on line by 5/22.

Make Your Family’s Summer Plans Now–Bear Valley Music Festival’s Adventures in Music for the Whole Family

May 15, 2011- Ever wondered what Bear Valley Ski Resort looks like in the summer? It’s the Alps–breathtakingly beautiful and green with lakes, streams, trails and wildflowers and much to enjoy filling your days and nights. With outdoor adventures galore on Ebbetts Pass along with the area’s casual and exciting Bear Valley Music Festival– July 29th through August 14th — there’s something for the entire family.

Whether it’s a full orchestra and world renown classical guest artists such as Olga Kern performing inside the giant tent, or taking a chairlift ride for live music and lunch at the top of Bear Valley’s Mountain Ski Resort, a casual jam session in the village, or a special musical and creative event for the kids, it’s over two weeks of great music and fun, according to Irene Nielsen, the Festival’s Managing Director.

Nielsen states, “The Festival board, volunteers and staff –along with support from area wine sponsors and donors– all help bring the Festival to life for all members of the family to enjoy- and we were voted the best Central Sierra summer event!”

Billed as the world’s best ABBA tribute band, abbacadabra opens this year’s Festival’s live musical performances on Sat. July 30th and the Mamma Mia Movie the night before (July 29th)– will have kids and adults dancing in the aisles. The movie night is a free event.

Come be enchanted by Disney in Concert: Magical Music from the Movies with the Orchestra, projected clips, still cells, storyboard art from films, and vocalists. Featuring Disney musical favorites such as The Little Mermaid, Beauty and the Beast, Pocahontas, The Hunchback of Notre Dame, Aladdin, or The Lion King along with the classics, from a Mary Poppins medley to the “Yo ho” of Pirates of the Caribbean, everyone joins together for memorable moments and melodies that Mouseketeers of all ages know by heart. It feels like a small world, after all!  Disney Tickets will be half price for everyone under 18.

Festival President David Roberts stated, “Having the Disney Concert in Bear Valley is a real coup for the Festival. The only other performance in Northern California will be with the San Francisco Symphony.”

Maestro Carter Nice adds, “The Disney concert has become immensely popular with symphony orchestras from Atlanta to Chicago to Dallas, both with audiences and with the musicians too. While the songs are familiar, the music itself is complex and rich.”

“If you enjoy Pop and Broadway tunes, you will have two exciting concerts to choose from this season. One of Bear’s skiing medalist’s families came to the Festival’s Broadway Pops concert for the first time last year and declared it awesome…saying they are coming back and bringing friends this year,” states Nielsen.

Some things should happen only in a place like Bear Valley and the Festival’s nighttime Star Party and daytime casual astronomy classes is one, and it’s free. “The vast forest that surrounds us, clean air, dark nights and high altitude means you can see masses of stars that will astound you, even without the giant telescopes made available for everyone’s viewing and the event is free, states Jeff McClain, Star Party organizer.

Bear Valley’s variety of summer camps and kid’s day camp offer adventure and recreation along with lessons, rentals of boats, bikes and more. Mountain bike where you skied and take a chairlift ride to the top of Bear Chair, kayak in beautiful Lake Alpine, play tennis, or go hiking or camping– it’s all here. Having a friends or family reunion? Bear is an ideal place to relax and unwind surrounded by nature. Rooms are available at Bear Valley Lodge and condo or house rentals through Bear Valley Real Estate—both located in Bear Valley’s friendly and unique village setting. Additional housing is available in Lake Alpine, Arnold, Murphys and Angels Camp along Highway 4. Highway 4 is a national scenic Byway and transforms in the summer months to a place of rare beauty with much to explore and enjoy on your trip up to bask in Bear Valley’s ideal summer climate. With late snows, experts predict wildflowers to be at their best during the Festival. USFS Alpine Ranger station phone is 209 753-2811 and offers free guided hikes and trail maps.
